On December 12, he scored a season-high 29 points in a 112–110 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
On November 30, 2016, Young was ruled out for two to four weeks due to a strained right calf muscle.On December 17, 2016, he made eight three-pointers and scored a season-high 32 points in a 119–108 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.Between late December and early January, Young's burst from long range gave him 36 three-pointers in eight games—the most in an eight-game stretch in Lakers franchise history.
